Bakassi Lawmakers Solidarize with Commissioner Ita, Declare Support for Governor Otu’s Re-Election

…Commissioner Urges Grassroots Mobilization Ahead of 2027 Elections 

 

Calabar – In a show of political solidarity, councillors of the 7th Bakassi Legislative Assembly, led by Leader Rt. Hon. Grace Bassey, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Lawrentia Ita, the Cross River State Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pension NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

The visit, which took place at the commissioner’s office in Calabar on Friday, was in response to her recent invitation to engage with the policymakers from her Local Government Area of origin.

During the meeting, Commissioner Ita charged the lawmakers to intensify voter registration efforts in their constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections. She highlighted the achievements of Governor Bassey Otu’s administration, particularly in pension reforms and human capital development for civil servants.

“Given the outstanding performance of His Excellency Governor Bassey Otu in pension management, civil service training, and overall governance, we must all work to promote his achievements at both state and local government levels,” Ita declared. “Let me make it clear –there is no vacancy in 2027 for the governorship stool. The people of Cross River state are satisfied with the progress we are making. Our unalloyed support for their Excellencies, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu and Rt. Hon. Peter Odey is total”, the Commissioner concluded.

Rt. Hon. Grace Bassey, speaking on behalf of the Bakassi lawmakers, reaffirmed their commitment to Governor Otu’s administration. “We are here not just to honor our sister, the commissioner, but to also pledge our full support for the governor’s transformative agenda. Bakassi stands firmly with Senator Prince Bassey Otu.”

The delegation’s visit was also attended by Mr. Peter Bissong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pension, who commended the lawmakers for their proactive engagement with the state government.
