…UNICROSS VC, Francisca Bassey, Leads Delegation to Cape Verde Conference
The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) is making waves on the international stage, with a high-powered delegation currently attending the 4th Annual International Conference of the Department of Psychology at the University of Cape Verde.
The conference, organised in collaboration with the International Association of Technology and Arts Teachers (IATATA), kicked off on July 6 and runs through July 9, 2026.
With the theme “Sustainability, Green Innovation and Education,” the gathering has drawn scholars, researchers, and policymakers from across the globe to tackle pressing issues around climate change, environmental education, governance, conservation, and community engagement.
But for UNICROSS, this is more than just a conference, it is a statement.

…TETFund Sponsors UNICROSS Delegation
Leading the charge is the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, whose administration has made international exposure a cornerstone of its strategy to position UNICROSS as a rising force in Nigerian academia.
The delegation’s participation was made possible through sponsorship from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), secured with the full backing of the VC and university management.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Anthony Otiko, the University’s TETFund Desk Officer, showered praise on the VC for creating opportunities that many academics can only dream of.
“I cannot thank Prof. Bassey enough,” Otiko said. “Her visionary leadership and sustained commitment to staff development have opened doors for us to represent UNICROSS on the global stage.”
…We Are Not Here to Joke — VC Sends Strong Signal
For Prof. Bassey, the message is clear: UNICROSS is no longer content to sit on the sidelines of global academic discourse.
Her administration has prioritised staff capacity building, cutting-edge research, and international partnerships, all aimed at boosting the university’s visibility and competitiveness.
Other members of the UNICROSS delegation joined Otiko in expressing gratitude to the VC and management, describing the experience as one that will enrich their research and open doors for future collaborations.
“Exposure like this is invaluable,” one participant said. “It will strengthen institutional ties and ultimately contribute to the growth and reputation of our university.”
…UNICROSS on the Rise
As the conference continues, one thing is clear: UNICROSS is not just attending international events, it is making its presence felt. And with Bassey at the helm, the university appears determined to prove that it belongs on the world stage.
