CALABAR— Political stakeholders in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State have endorsed Oden Ewa, Blessing Egbara and Dr Erim Agbor Owor for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly respectively in the 2027 elections.
The endorsement was made on Tuesday during a meeting of political leaders and stakeholders from the 10 wards of the local government at the residence of the Secretary to the Cross River State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, in Calabar.
The meeting was held under the banner of the Ikom-Boki-Obubra-Etung Alliance with the theme, “One Purpose, One Vision,” ahead of the alliance’s dinner scheduled for Tuesday evening.
The stakeholders also declared their support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and the All Progressives Congress, pledging to mobilise across the 10 wards of Etung for the party and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the gathering, Enoh said the prevailing political atmosphere in Etung made it necessary for the people to unite and speak with one voice.
He said Etung had become politically stronger and expressed confidence that the local government would deliver what he described as a 5/5 result for the APC in the elections.
Enoh also described Governor Otu’s second-term bid as non-negotiable, urging the people of Etung to reciprocate what he called the Governor’s support for the local government.
He particularly cited the inclusion of Etung indigenes in the state administration as part of the reasons for the stakeholders’ support for Otu.
Also speaking, the member representing Etung State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Kingsley Ntui Isong, said the stakeholders were united in their determination to secure victory for Tinubu, Otu and the APC candidates.
Ntui Isong urged political leaders and ward stakeholders to return to their communities and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He charged them to “straighten every crooked line” in preparation for the polls.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, said Etung was firmly behind Otu and the APC.
Agbor challenged leaders across the 10 wards to raise the tempo of grassroots mobilisation, insisting that the responsibility for securing electoral support rested largely with stakeholders at the ward and community levels.
He further pledged that any ward that delivered 100 per cent votes for Otu and other APC candidates would be honoured with an award of gratitude.
The meeting was attended by political leaders and stakeholders including Enoh, Ntui Isong, Agbor, Hon. Patrick Ebam Emanghe, Ntufam Collins Ogar, former council chairman Ntufam Godwin Etim John, APC chapter chairman Emmanuel Ndum, Bassey Agbor of Asia Africa, former council chairman Hon. Okomah Inyang, Hon. Michael Kajang Obaji, Dr Cyril Abang Agbor, ward chairmen, Emily Njah Maduake, Hon. Cyprian Abang Attah and Prince Cosmas Ebori Nku, among others.
