Senator John Owan-Enoh, the lawmaker representing Cross River Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly (NASS) and gubernatorial hopeful has disclosed that he will be meeting with the Grand-patriarch, Treaty King of the Efik and Obong of Calabar, His Royal Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu V on Friday 7th September NegroidHaven has confirmed.
Owan-Enoh disclosed this when he met with journalists yesterday at his Ikom residence shortly after his declaration of intention to occupy the state top job. He has disclosed that there is a three-pronged approach to addressing the propaganda, one of which is suing for libel.
Though the planned visit by the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial hopeful is originally part of his previously shelved state-wide tour, the visit will avail him the opportunity to resolve the fracas inspired by an anti-Efik rhetoric credited to him on social media recently where it was alleged that Owan-Enoh affirmed that he was of the Ejagham ethnicity and thus won’t be seriously needing the votes of the largest ethnic group in Cross River —the Efik.
Owan-Enoh who initially addressed that altercation during his official declaration of intent argued that it is only a mentally deranged individual who would make such a statement. He proceeded to denying the statement.
According to him, ‘it is only a mad man who would make such a statement in public’. He went to admit that while in Calabar in a meeting, when an Ejagham native made allusion to that reality after he had done speaking, he had to get the microphone to address that, he was not running as an Ejagham son but as a Cross Riverian.
His words, ‘There is this excitement that it is an Ejagham native that is vying for the Office of Executive Governor of Cross River State. However, I have made the point that, I mean…, while I can’t deny my Ejagham nativity, I am not running as an Ejagham son, I am running as a Cross Riverian’.
It seems there has been this frenzy-rise in propaganda against the personality of Owan-Enoh.
