A cement manufacturing company, Giant Cement Works Limited, has dismissed allegations that it was responsible for the arrest of certain community leaders in its host communities in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
Besides, the firm has rather stated unequivocally that it is committed to fostering responsible, inclusive, and sustainable relationships with our host communities.
In a statement issued by the GCWL and signed on it’s behalf by Sanya Fafunso.
The Project Manager, the firm maintained that it is committed to delivering tangible benefits through job creation, skills development, and economic growth for our host communities.
The statement reads in part: “We wish to address stakeholders, host communities, and the general public regarding recent developments within our concession areas. GCWL is committed to fostering responsible, inclusive, and sustainable relationships with our host communities.
“Our approach aligns with the “People First” agenda of His Excellency, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River state, and is focused on creating economic opportunities, supporting local empowerment, and contributing to long-term development.
“We categorically refute any allegations of wrongdoing regarding the arrests by the authorities of unknown persons illegally mining on our concessions.
“We further seek to reaffirm our commitment to lawful and responsible operations. As a responsible and law-abiding organisation, GCWL operates with integrity and in full compliance with all applicable regulatory frameworks governing the solid minerals sector.
“We remain committed to delivering tangible benefits through job creation, skills development, and economic growth for our host communities.
