CALABARThe All Progressives Congress (APC) national delegation that monitored the governorship primaries across Cross River State has declared the state “special” and praised Governor Bassey Edet Otu as the “poster boy of the national secretariat”, citing his exceptional performance and role in delivering elections for the party NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

Speaking at various locations during a tour of all 18 local government areas, the Deputy National Treasurer of the APC, Engr. Ben Akak, who led the delegation, said the national secretariat is deeply impressed with Cross River.

“The governor of Cross River state, his performances have resonated at the national headquarters. He is called the poster boy of the national secretariat. You are aware that your governor, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, has helped the party in conducting most of the elections. So the national secretariat is happy with Cross River. I can tell you that,” Akak said while addressing party faithful in Calabar Municipality.

He urged that the message of the national secretariat’s satisfaction be conveyed to the governor.

“Please convey this message to the governor, through the chairman, that the national secretariat is proud of him. We are happy. Let it be on record that Cross River state, what we have seen here, will massively and incredibly vote for Asiwaju (President Bola Tinubu) in 2027,” Akak added.

In Calabar South, the APC Deputy National Treasurer reiterated the party’s confidence in the state.

“We were sent by the national secretariat of our party. So far, we are impressed. We are proud of Cross River. We are also proud that your governor is doing excellently well. And that will translate to the vote we will get at the end of the day,” he said.

In Akamkpa, Akak, who disclosed that he is a son of the local government, described the area as unique and foundational.

“Akamkpa, beyond just having tremendous population, has vast resources. The National Secretariat, having instructed and mandated us to go through the local governments of Cross River State and witness the exercise, has noted that Akamkpa should be chosen as a unique local government. Akamkpa is the foundation of almost everything in the South-South,” he said.

He further praised the crowd in Akamkpa as “innumerable, uncountable, unquantifiable,” which he said demonstrated the area’s readiness for President Tinubu and Governor Otu in 2027.

“The way the Governor of Cross River State is described at the National Secretariat is unique. They see him as a man who can deliver the undeliverable. He’s been able to deliver almost all the elections he’s been sent to handle. So if he can deliver for others, what about himself? From the exercise I’ve seen, the Governor has already won his second term,” Akak declared.

Also speaking, the Zonal Organizing Secretary of the APC for the South-South zone, who was part of the delegation, echoed similar sentiments while addressing party members in Akamkpa.

“Cross River State is the eyes of the APC at the national level and the regional level. Those of us in the South-South hold Cross River State in very high esteem,” he said.

He noted that the delegation had inspected the governorship primaries across Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Akamkpa, and other local governments, confirming peaceful and orderly conduct.

“This actually has gone to confirm that Prince Otu is doing very well and people are with him. He is a leader who has led other states in the South-South to move to APC. Cross River State occupies that position,” the Zonal Organizing Secretary added.

In an interview at the Governor’s ward in Adiabo after his affirmation, Governor Otu himself responded to the national delegation’s praise, saying the affirmation calls for greater service.

“It means a lot. You’ve seen the kind of massive support that has come our way. Anything like this calls for greater service to humanity. We’ve been doing our best, but with this total affirmation, we’ll even do more,” Otu said.

The national delegation concluded its tour across all 18 local governments, reporting massive turnout, endorsement of Governor Otu, and a peaceful process.
