2027 Election: Cross River Forum Urges Reconciliation After APC Primaries

The Cross River State Consultative Forum has called on members of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River state to embrace reconciliation, unity, and sportsmanship following the conclusion of the party’s primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections NEGROIDHAVEN can say.

In a statement issued on Friday in Calabar, the Forum urged aspirants, party faithful, stakeholders, and supporters to accept the outcome of the primaries in the interest of peace, political stability, and the continued development of the state.

The statement, jointly signed by Chairman of the Forum, Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, and Secretary, Dr. Julius Ochim Okputu, congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the primaries conducted for the State House of Assembly, National Assembly, and governorship positions.

According to the Forum, the larger objective should remain the collective progress and sustainable development of Cross River State rather than personal political interests.

The group also commended the leadership of the APC in the state under Hon. Chris Sunny Etta for what it described as a peaceful, transparent, and consultative primary exercise reflective of democratic values and internal party cohesion.

The Forum noted that the successful conduct of the exercise further demonstrated the growing maturity of the democratic process within the party and reinforced the state’s reputation as one of the politically stable states in the country.

It further congratulated Governor Bassey Edet Otu, describing his leadership and commitment to party unity as a stabilising force within the APC and the broader political landscape of the state.

The Forum urged candidates who emerged from the primaries to sustain issue-based campaigns, maintain close engagement with the grassroots, and prioritise policies capable of improving the welfare of the people.

While congratulating the successful candidates, the organisation also acknowledged the contributions of other aspirants, stating that their participation enriched the democratic process and strengthened internal democracy within the party.

The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement, policy advocacy, and support for initiatives aimed at advancing the political, economic, and social development of Cross River State and the country at large.
