A political support group in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River state, the Ideal Progressive Movement, has commenced mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group also formally endorsed all APC candidates for the elections, declaring its commitment to securing victory for the party at the federal, state and constituency levels.
The declaration was made during the inaugural meeting of the movement which held recently, which also featured the inauguration of ward coordinators to strengthen its grassroots structure across Bakassi.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the movement, AIG Chief Enene Okon (retd.), announced the endorsement on behalf of the group, describing it as a collective commitment to the APC and its candidates.
The endorsement was followed by a motion moved by the Special Adviser on Security to the Bakassi Local Government Chairman, Comrade Peter Okon, and supported by members present.
The group said its mobilisation would focus on engaging residents at the ward level, strengthening its grassroots presence and encouraging peaceful political participation ahead of the elections.
Performing the inauguration of the ward coordinators, the Executive Vice Chairman of Bakassi LGA, Hon. Princess Christiana Eso, charged the appointees to immediately commence mobilisation in their respective wards.
Eso urged the coordinators to engage community stakeholders and work towards expanding the movement’s presence at the grassroots.
She congratulated the newly inaugurated coordinators and reminded them that their appointments came with the responsibility of representing the movement in their communities.
The movement reaffirmed its support for Tinubu, Otu, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey and Andrea Ekeng Inyang in the 2027 elections.
It said the inauguration of the ward coordinators marked the beginning of a coordinated grassroots mobilisation campaign designed to mobilise members, engage communities and strengthen support for the APC ahead of the polls.
The group urged its members to remain united, disciplined and focused as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
