SPORT UPDATE: World Cup Winner And Argentine Legend Diego Maradona Set To Run For FIFA Presidency

FIFA President Josep Sepp Blatter who was just re-elected to a fifth term as President at the FIFA, two days after a crisis erupted in which seven officials were arrested in Zurich as part of a United States Justice Department corruption investigation. 

Sepp Blatter went on to  announce his plans for his resignation four days after being elected for a fifth term in office due to the scandal that has tainted World Football Body FIFA, most duely for the awarding of the bid to host 2018 & 20122 World Cups to Russia and Qatar respectively.

Argentine Legend and 1994 World Cup winner Diego Maradona 54 years old, has made his intention known of being a candidate to run for the FIFA Presidency.

Uruguayan Journalist Victor Hugo Morales, who provided a memorable commentary of the ICON'S tremendous solo goal against England during the 1986 World Cup gave the information as he was told by Diego Maradona. He said in a statement; "I called Diego to ask him about the health of His Father, and he told me he is a Candidate to run for the FIFA Presidency and authorised me to make it known."

Other Candidate for the Presidency are; Liberia Football Association Chairman Musa Ability and Brazil Legend Zico as reported by sky news.

Meanwhile Sepp Blatter has made it known he will continue to exercise His functions until the due date of election, and successor to him is announced.

A FIFA congress executive meeting will be held on July 20th to decide the election date officially.
