The erstwhile governor of Akwa Ibom State and now Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has taken to Twitter to explain the reason he was involved in a recent automobile accident which further explains why he was flown abroad.
Contrary to speculations, the former governor-turned-senator submits that his involvement in the said crash last week was not as a result of his disobeying traffic rules but as a result of a failed traffic system as at the time of his arrival there.
Again, he also explained that his being flown abroad wasn't for treatment as it's being speculated but for the reason of visiting an ill relative abroad.
All these controversy is coming at a time when there is public censure over the perceived scam relating to the over N30 billion hospital located at Itam road and constructed by Godswill Obot Akpabio while he was governor of AKS.
The question is: if the hospital at Itam road was not a mere media hype, why wasn't the former governor receive treatment in that medical institution sequel to his being involved in an auto-crash? Why was he flown out of the country?
For instance, one Mr. Richie Armani has observed thus concerning the incident on his Facebook timeline:
'The Shame of an Active and Working Governor…. He built a beautiful exterior Edifice at Itam Road Akwa Ibom State and called it an International standard Hospital. From the Exterior of the building the sum of 30billion Naira spent on the edifice is obvious and clear but does the Interior speaks the same Language of 30billion Naira? I begin to wonder, what manner of man could Sen. Godswill Akpabio be after spending such huge sum of money on health in the state he was still flown abroad for treatment on a mere Accident case? This simply proves that the 30billion naira project was a waste of money (Misappropriated) or are there no Doctors again in Akwa Ibom State to manage the Hospital…. But I believe the governor commissioned the building for mere activation of praises and politics, there was no single equipment in that 'exteriorical' beautiful edifice called hospital….. This is the right time to ask questions, Sen. Godswill Akpabio you will go and come back safely, have it in mind that you will surely return the Akwa Ibom State Money if you can't receive treatment in the hospital you built, it's a shame on the former Governor, that a state that collects allocation of up to 20-30billion naira Monthly which happens to be the highest in the country can still have such huge sum of money as Debt after the previous government left office, this proofs how fraudulent the Governor and his Government was…. I'm angry I don't want to talk further but nobody should chant Akwa Ibom Ayaya or Akwa Ibom Ado ok…near me again…'
