NEWS: C’ River Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Joseph Bassey Empowers Constituents -By Prince Thomas Abi Jr

The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Joseph, on Friday 20 November 2015 splashed a whooping sum of 5 million naira on his constituents. 

Rt. Hon Bassey, who happens to be the state legislator representing Calabar South 1 in the Cross River State House of Assembly(CRSHA) empowered youths of his constituency on skills acquisition; Saying that he was deeply pained by the level of unemployment in the country. He took it upon himself as a constitutional obligation to empower vibrant young men in his constituency on skills acquisition. 

The lawmaker also paid school fees of students in JSS3 and SS3 and also gave scholarship to students, and also project assistance for final year students  in his constituency. stating that education was the bedrock of any solid and formidable society. "We must give our people solid education, because it is only in educating our people that we can remove poverty, fight all forms of social vices in Calabar South and as well change their thinking".

Rt. Hon Bassey, seeing the plight of his people, took his empowerment to the market women and farmers. Where he gave them money to add in their businesses and also improve their farming.

As a lover of the poor and downtrodden he donated food items to a motherless baby home within his Constituency. 

"Our vision is to achieve parliamentarian distinction, representing our people with an effective legislation and grass root development. My vision is to serve my people with dedication and all sincerity. For an improved welfare of our people in Calabar South".

"My goal is to see to the betterment of my people. And that I will do with all humility. My people have showed me so much love. Out of the multitude, you decided to send me to represent you in the State House of Assembly. I am proud to tell you that your son has sponsored many bills, worthy of note is the Infrastructure fund bill, which is for the funding of Governor Ayade's projects".

He advised the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity and utilize the assistance giving them adequately. 

He also said he will be glad to receive their well thought out advice, counsel and contributions on the way forward for Calabar South 1 State Constituency.

"We have contributed so much in the debates in the House of Assembly. And as for our Constituency not been included in Commissionership, I have taken it up on the floor of the House and His Excellency, Governor Ayade has taken note of that"

He assured them that he will continue to work for the liberation of his constituents. Calling on them to continue to support and pray for him.
