Special Adviser to the Governor of CRS on Community Health, Dr Betta Edu, has today 6 January 2016, flagged off Training of Trainers (TOT) for LGA Malaria Focal Persons and Monitoring & Evaluation officers on the National Health Management Information System (NHMIS) in Calabar.

The S.A thanked our dynamic State Governor for approving and supporting the implementation of all programs targeted at eliminating malaria from CRS. She also thanked Global funds and Malaria Action Program in States (MAPS) for their partnership and impactful programmes in the state.

She went further to stress the importance of health management informatiom system tools in the planning cycle for effective delivery of quality health services in the state. In her words, "If the state does not get the correct data from the facilities and health workers in our communities, then we cannot measure our impact, track our indicators and have a guide to inform the next planning cycle"

The S.A in her speech, specifically thanked the team of facilitators from MAPs who are rendering selfless service of training all the personnel in the Local Governments that are in-charge of malaria data collection, collation and reporting from all the LGAs in Cross River State.

She was happy to be part of the training especially as it was the first public activity of the Department of Community  & Primary Health Care in the year 2016, assuring them that the State Governor Prof (Sen.) Ben Ayade is determined to put neccessary measures in place for the sustainability of all malaria programmes in the state as well as ensure that the state benefit from Phase Two of the MAPs programme.

She implores the trainers to pay keen attention to the various training sessions and feel free to share any experience or ask any question that would contribute to the successful implementation of the step-down training coming up at the LGAs very soon.
