HEALTH: Special Adviser to the Governor on Community & Primary Healthcare Flag-off Measles Campaign of Calabar South LGA.

Information reliably garnered from the media aide to the Special Adviser on Community and Primary Healthcare reveals that the Special Adviser, Dr. Betta Edu yesterday, at Methodist Church Primary School ground in Atamunu, flagged-off Measles immunization Campaign for Calabar South Local Government Area.

According to her, the exercise must reach out to all children from 9 months to 59 months with the measles vaccines. The exercise which will last for 5 days, begining from 28th of January to 1st of february 2016 must meet 100% target. She encouraged parents, care-givers and guidance to take their children to health faciliities (fixed posts), and other selected places (temporary fixed posts) like town halls, schools, churches, chief's houses and spacious compounds etc for vaccination.

According to the media aide, Charles Ekanem, the SA 'informed them that after vaccination, every child will be given a card and thier left finger thumb marked to avoid multiple immunization. She also informed them about the release of counter part funding by State Government for the Measles campaign, assuring them of more support from the dynamic State Governor Senator (Prof). Ben Ayade'.

He went further to observe that, 'The S.A was full of joy for Hon. (Mrs) Majorie Asuquo the Chairman of Calabar South LGA, describing her as a courageous and outstanding woman in the state. She commended her zeal to eliminate Measles from the Local Government. She eulogised her among other LGA Chairmen in the state and called on other Local Government chairmen to emulate her.'

Mrs. Joy Chabo, State facilitator for Measles campaign in Calabar South LGA in her remarks thanked the S.A for her presence in the flag-off irrespective of the invitation at short notice. She praised the S.A on her passionate desire to deliver quality health care services to the people courtesy of Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade resolved to revamp the health sector.

Present at the flag-off was LGA Chairman, Hon.Mrs Majorie Asuquo, vice chairman, Calabar South LGA Council Secretary, Ward Councillors and a team of Partners from W.H.O. UNICEF, E.U. SIGN etc
