In what appears to be a recent backlash at his critics, Cross River foremost right activist and front-line APC member, Okoi Obono-Obla, has taken to his Facebook page to berate his critics over what I'd perceived to be a denigration of his articulations on Facebook.

The legal luminary on 29 January this year took to his social media account to educate his naysayers on what he perceives social media to be. In his words: 'Social media is a convenient tool to educate and enlighten the ignorant especially a backward society such as Cross River State nay Nigeria where even our supposedly educated young people are intellectually challenged!'

The Constitutional/Human Rights activist further maintained that, 'Any body who cannot articulate anything cannot express himself on facebook!'

Obono-Obla may have been replying his critics from the political bourgeois in his state, Cross River, especially those of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) over his persistent criticism of the activities, policies and ideology of the Ben Ayade's administration.

For those dishonest pessimists the Obono-Obla contends that, 'I write for both respected journals and on the social media. I am also a strong Lawyer in the Court Room. I have practiced law consistently for 25 years! I have numerous appearances both in the High Court, Federal High Court, Industrial Court, Election Tribunal, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. I have a Law firm that was established since 1994 yet some bad Belle people call me a Facebook Lawyer!'

And without much ado, Obono-Obla roars, 'Yes I am a Facebook Lawyer , Facebook journalist and an intellectual for that matter! Just check the respected Nigerian Weekly Law Reports that report cases decided in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court and you will readily dismiss those who claim I am a failed lawyer or Facebook lawyer! Currently I advise the Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on policy aspect of Criminal Prosecution'.

Looking at the credentials of Barr. Okoi Obono-Obla suggest that his critics may not have armed themselves credibly against him. Or, maybe there seem to be another Okoi Obono-Obla they are referring to. My position to Obono-Obla's critics is that they should get to work in concretising campaign promises because there can't be a democracy devoid of an opposition.
