Commissioner Inaugurates Technical Team on Eradication of Neglected Tropical Diseases(NTDs)

Information reaching our health desk suggest that after a 3 day Stakeholders meeting on Action Plan for Eradication of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Onchocerciasis (River Blindness), Trachoma, Schistosomiasis, Trypanasomiasis (Sleeping Sickness) in Cross River State last week, the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyang Asibong inaugurated a technical/an advisory team.

The composition of the team and it's leadership are as follows:
*Prof. Ekanem Braide, a Renowned Parasitologist/Epidemiologist and immediate Past Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Nassarawa, with
*Prof. (Mrs.) Angela Oyo-Ita, immediate past Commissioner for Health, Cross River State/Professor of Family Medicine as a member among others with vast expertise from Ministries of International Donors, Education, Women Affairs and Non Government Organization.

This advisory team is charged with making recommendations to the Honourable Commissioner and relevant stakeholders in the state health sector on how how to eradicate Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) which includes: Trachoma, Schistosomiasis, Trypanasomiasis.
