'I observed that our governor wears sun glasses inside his office and during public events at night. Surprisingly, he wears sunglasses to address visitors during official hours. I feel that something is fundamentally wrong somewhere. Is there something to learn from this observation?'

The above statement is credited to Obasesam Okoi, which he made recently on social media. Okoi was seen to be drawing attention to the poor public relations(PR) rating of the Executive Governor of Cross River State, namely, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade especially considering the latter's idea of using sunglasses even at at night.

The Cross River-born Canadian-based academic, who happens to be an influential public affairs analyst in the state, is challenging Gov. Ayade's use of sunglasses at night, during public events as well as such use to address visitors during official hours.

At the outset of the present administration, Ifere Paul, a popular critic had highlighted the fact that Ayade's use of sunglasses as a public figure doesn't speak well of him. He added that his Public Relations aide may not be doing an excellent job. Now, with over six months since Paul made that observation, Okoi is drawing the attention of the public to this same anomaly.

The present author is asking His Excellency the governor to rationalise the use of sunglasses at night or desist forthwith from the trend. It looks absurd, abnormal, etc for a public figure of his standing.
