The Commissioner for Health, Dr. (Mrs) Inyang Asibong has promised to facilitate the speedy take off of St. Luke's General Hospital, the first state – owned hospital in Obudu – the home of Governor Benedict Ayade.

Dr. Asibong made this known while on Needs Assessment Tour to the facility to find out constraints in the take off of the hospital with such befitting physical structure.

'It's been a process that was started by the previous administration, it's almost at the completion stage. What ever happens, we want this Hospital to start as soon as possible so that the people of this community can actually benefit from the health care,' Asibong said.

Mrs. Evelyn Ikpi, the Hospital's Head of Human Resources and Director of Administration said that the state government when fulfilling some aspects of the concession and as they are about to complete full delivery of equipments for the take off of the hospital, the place will be one of the best general hospital in the country.
Ikpi explained that the hospital is a public private partnership between the Cross River State Government and St. Luke's General Hospital in Lagos.

The Commissioner also paid a visit to the Sacred Heart Catholic Hospital Obudu, where she promised to look into their appeal for the absorption of the "Mission Support Staff" into the state civil service.

Rev. Fr. Moses Ndifon, the administrator of the hospital said the visit of the Commissioner for Health was something of a dream: "I've been here for eight years, it's the first time such a thing is happening, it is as if one is dreaming. May God who led you this far bless you and give you fulfilment in your tenure," Rev. Fr. Ndifon said.
