Yesterday 16 October, in a one hour (6-7PM) programme aired on Hit FM and hosted by Mr Agba Jalingo, the publisher and Editor-in-Chief of CrossRiverWatch, Cross River State Commissioner for Information, Barr. Rosemary Archibong, informed that by the ending of the month of October all local government workers who are owed backlogs of salaries for up to four months will be paid.

The Honourable Commissioner explained that the reason why arrears of salaries where been owed LG staff for this long was because the state government was presently conducting a staff auditing exercise to fish out ghost workers in the state civil service. She said that the sum of N300 million had been recovered to the state coffers owing to the exercise and a handful of ghost workers had been identified and ghost working terminated.

Barr. Archibong further submitted that beginning from today 17 October that training would begin for employees of the Cross River Garment Factory and Textile Industry Limited.
