President Muhammadu Buhari’s unbridled remark that the first lady, Aisha Buhari "belongs to the kitchen" seems to have gone viral on social media platforms  and other news agencies.

It was this obnoxious outcome of Buhari's statement that have led the Federal Government to stylishly excuse his (Buhari's) statement as a mere expression not having an intended negative implication.

In defending Pres. Buhari against Gender activists, the federal government came up to argue on the contrary that Buhari's statements  were nothing but a mere joke.

Words as it is popularly said are powerful, it is liable of causing an uproar or instilling peace. it can also lead to commendation or condemnation.

In an attempt to quench the Mess caused by Buhari's careless remark against his wife, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has posited that, the president should not be taken seriously with such statement.

You would recall that earlier in a BBC  interview, Buhari's  wifw had stated categorically that  she in doubt if she would support her husband and president of the federal republic come 2019.

Buhari's response to such indirect threat by his wife led him to inform that “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other rooms.”.

Buhari's SSA on media and publicity, Garba Shehu in other to quell the storm, took to his Twitter handle and wrote the thus:

“My friends, can’t a leader get a sense of  humour anymore? Mr. President laughed before that statement was made. He was obviously throwing a banter.

“Politics sometimes should be spiced with humour. Those of us close to him knows there is never a dull moment with him.

“Mr. President respects the place of women in our society. He believes in the abilities of women.

“One of Nigeria’s most sensitive office today is headed by a woman, Mrs. Adeosun. This is an evidence of the confidence he reposes on women.”
