The Executive Chairman of Boki Local Government Area, Mr Abubakar Ewa, who is presently constructing a 26 kilometers earth road, the East West Road which is a virgin road located at Irruan Eastern Boki has decried his inability to construct bridges and culverts on the said earth road.

The LG boss made this known yesterday as he pegged the reason for this challenge to paucity of funds. In his words, 'My legacy project of linking Boki west and Boki East (East West Road) is suffering stagnation. No money to construct the 4No. Bridges and 5No culverts.'

The earth road is allegedly 70% complete. Chairman Ewa is reputed to be about the only working LG boss in Cross River State. The other seventeen have been as elusive as possible.

For instance, a former student activist, Mr Ekeng Inyang, has challenged his local government area boss, Mrs Marjorie Asuquo on infrastructural development in her local government of influence. Read how he phrased his challenge with the docile Chairlady while commending Mr Ewa:

'I always admire you leaders of the rural domicile. Please when next you sit close to the Calabar South Chairlady in the Forum of Chairmen/Ladies…ask her, what is the present condition of the express road that leads to your house and the local government council (New Airport Road) and what is your conscious and unconscious effort to fix this road even in the prevalent economic situation? I'll be glad if you do so sir'.
