Against the backdrop of the recent cult clashes that engulfed the ancient city of Ogoja resulting to the gruesome murder of a vibrant and an illustrious son of Ogoja, Mr. Dominic Modey, a frontline chairmanship aspirant of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Ogoja, and Leader of the Team-Ishabor, Barr. Paul Ishabor has condemned the recent killings, describing them as barbaric and alien to the peace loving people of Ogoja.
It will be recalled that until his untimely death, Mr. Dominic Modey, who is also a cousin to Bar. Paul Ishabor was an ardent and committed member of Team-Ishabor whose contributions to the success of the team were unquantifiable.
According to him, the incessant killings of young men in Ogoja is becoming worrisome and we must all join hands to put an end to this barbaric act. The aspirant Barr. Paul Ishabor who was visibly in shock and grief made this statement when a delegation of the Team-Ishabor paid him a visit in his Calabar residence on Monday morning, the 12th of June. Here's his statement below!
'It's so painful that human beings can hack a fellow human being, in such a gruesome manner, to death. I really do not understand what Ogoja is turning into with incessant cult wars. It's high time we all stand up against this blood- thirsty demons that have infiltrated our once peaceful town. No true son of Ogoja can do this to his brother. We must join hands with the authorities to comb this demons out of Ogoja'.
The chairmanship aspirant added that He has always known his cousin, Dominic Modey, as a fearless and courageous young man who stands for the truth and justice and have always condemned cultism and its promoters. Maybe that was his sin. According to Barr. Paul, the perpetrators of this dastardly act will never go unpunished. Justice must sure prevail as he prays for the peaceful repose of his soul.
He used the occasion to call on sons and daughters of Ogoja to join him as the family lays the deceased to rest in his home town, Igodor-Ogoja on Friday the 16th of June, 2017.
