Joy Odama: 17 timelines proceeding towards Justice

19 June 2017 
1. The late Joy Odama, aged 20, was a 200 level undergraduate of Mass Communication at the Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH)
2. On December 18, 2016 the late Joy Odama was introduced to Alhaji Usman Adamu, as a philanthropist by her friend called Elizabeth.
3. On the same date above Joy Odama's mother spoke with the said Alhaji Usman Adamu, who promised to assist her secure a job with the Nigerian Security & Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC)
4. In the evening of December 20, 2016, Alhaji Usman Adamu, called Joy Odama to join other girls and help look after his 'sick' maid.
5. In the night of December 20, 2016, Joy Odama's mother went to Alhaji Adamu's residence after the inability of Joy to pick repeated calls to her mobile line, but could not gain access.
6. Joy's death occurred on December 21, 2016
7. On December 21, 2016, Police officers of Karmo Station announced the death of Joy Odama to her Parents and family members.
8. On December 22, 2016, Parents and family members of the late Joy Odama were allowed to see her embalmed body at the mortuary facility of the Federal Medical Center, along Airport Road Abuja by Karmo Police then DPO,  CSP Nkem Raphael.
9. On December 24, 2016, Karmo Divisional Police DPO, CSP Nkem Raphael, the DCO, SP Michael Obiora arranged a meeting where parents and family members of the deceased met with Alhaji Usman Adamu.
10. Alhaji Usman Adamu offered the parents N300, 000 as his assistance for the burial of their daughter.
11. A second meeting was held at the Karmo Divisional Police station, presided over by AIG Umoru Shehu (AIG Intelligence, Force Headquarters Abuja). He asked Alhaji Usman Adamu should assist the family of the N400,000. He urged the family of the deceased to accept the offer and close the case. The. Money was collected as exhibit.
12. Parents and family members on the advise of a lawyer and an NGO – Basic Rights Enlightenment Foundation (BREF)  transferred the corpse of the deceased from Federal Medical Center Abuja to National Hospital Abuja for autopsy report.
13. Autopsy report put the probable date of death as December 20, 2016
14. Autopsy report dated May 9, 2017, stated the possible cause of death to be "Acute Cocaine Poison"
15. As a result of social media campaign calling for justice, Cross River State House of Assembly on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 passed a 5-point resolution
16. On Thursday, June 8, 2017, Hon Jarigbe Agom presented the matter as a petition on the floor of the House of Representatives
17. On Saturday, June 10, 2017, Governor Ben Ayade stepped in.
