Barely days after presenting state-of-the-art medical equipments to facilities across the State through His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, Bakor hospital, Ikom, has began free medical care for under five children in the State. This is in line with the vision of the State Government to provide free quality healthcare services to the vulnerable through the AYADECARE.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong who went on an inspection at the facility told newsmen that the move became imperative as the State is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to achieve Universal Health Coverage come year 2030. She added that AYADECARE will also go a long way to supporting the initiative with its wide range of packages once it it commences in the last quarter of the year.
Meanwhile the Chief Medical Director of the hospital and chairman of the CRS Public Hospital Management Board, Dr Sylvester Ebaye said the pilot phase organised earlier in the year which lasted a few months provided them with an opportunity to address the shortcomings and further prepared the team for the programme.
In related news, residents of Ikom over the weekend witnessed the official launch of the JOE Foundation Diabetes clinic. Dr Inyang Asibong who was a part of the launch told the community that the State Government will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to give the people access to better healthcare across board whilst lauding the organisers for the initiative.
The founder, Sen. John Owan Enoh in his remarks stated that the foundation is happy to partner with the State Government to fight the deadly disease starting from the forthcoming World Diabetes Day celebration on the 14th of November this year.
