Medical expert hails Dr Inyang Asibong over award as S/South Commissioner of the Year

NAGGMDP boss, Dr Freeman Jabengo, Monday, felicitates with Cross River state Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong, over the conferment of award on her as South-South Commissioner of the Year by Independent Newspapers Public Service Award NegroidHaven has garnered. 

Dr Jabengo in his congratulations also acknowledged designated principal members of the state health team, particularly, the permanent secretary of state ministry of health Dr Joseph Bassey, the Director of Medical Services of Cross River State Ministry of Health simply identified as Dr Essien and the Chief Medical Director of General Hospital Calabar Dr Effiong Etim Ayi. According to him these trio deserve special mention in respect of the achievements of the Honourable Commissioner because of the significant role they have and are still playing. 

In a letter of congratulations made available to our correspondent and signed by Dr Jabengo, it was observed that the state health boss, namely, Commissioner Inyang Asibong, is actually deserving of the award particularly taking cognizance of her sterling leadership and administrative qualities demonstrated thus far as a public officer. He charged her to be consistent. 

The letter reads in part, ‘It would have come as a surprise to me Commissioner Inyang Asibong, should you not have finally emerged as the recipient of the South-South Commissioner of the Year by Independent Newspapers Public Service Award especially considering the finesse of leadership you have articulated in practice as a public officer for these two years. 

‘I must confess that your performance has beaten our imagination. I urge you to be consistent in your good works as the sky is not a limit. Permit me to also acknowledge some important members of the state health team without whose contributions and support this award would not have been a reality, to wit, the permanent secretary of Cross River state ministry of health Dr Joseph Bassey, the Director of Medical Services of Cross River State Ministry of Health Dr Essien and the Chief Medical Director of General Hospital Calabar Dr Effiong Etim Ayi : these three have been awesome’. 

‘Congratulations once again Madam!’. 

It should be recalled that Asibong was awarded for successfully organizing the first ever Cross River State Health Summit, developing the first toll-free smart phone and LAMIS Software for health facilities in the State, drastically reducing maternal mortality rate in the State, following up with the accreditation of schools of nursing in the State and steering the State to becoming the only South-South State in the country to win the bidding rights of MTN Foundation support project to renovate Maternal wards of the General Hospital, Calabar.
