As the State Government continues to revamp health facilities across the State in a bid to make quality and affordable healthcare across board, the Cross River State Government has distributed another batch of state-of-the-art medical equipments and consumables to another 2 General Hospitals and 5 PHCs in 3 LGAs of the State.
According to the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, the equipments is a demonstration of the State Government's commitment to securing the lives of mothers and children, and also achieving Universal Health Coverage before the year 2030 target.
"These equipments have been coming in batches and distributed accordingly since as they arrive. This is the fourth delivery we've taken and distributed. The idea is to bring our facilities to world-class standard as we prepare for the full takeoff of the State Health Insurance Scheme.
We are working assiduously as a team in the State health sector to maintain the steady decline of the maternal and child mortality rate in the State, which is evident in the recent UNICEF survey which named us as the State with the best child survival indices.
The two General Hospitals include Lutheran General Hospital Yahe, Yala LGA and General Hospital Akamkpa, while PHC Olachoo in Yala LGA, PHC Katchuan Irruan in Boki LGA, PHC Ikot Offiong Ambai and Aningeje PHC in Akpabuyo LGA, and PHC Ikot Nakanda in Akamkpa LGA made up the 5 PHCs" -Dr. Asibong said.
Meanwhile the Chief Executive Officer of Pathfinder International, Lois Quam, who recently came to the State on a 3-days working visit assured the State Government of their continuous partnership and cooperation in saving mothers and giving lives in the State.
So far more than 30 facilities from across the State have benefited. The facilities were selected following a need assessment survey conducted by the State Ministry of Health, the State Primary Health Care Development Agency and Pathfinder International.
