Dr. Linda Ayade kicks-off maiden Lafarge community day; to partner brand for Annual Literary Competition

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as an organization, Lafarge Africa PLC today hosted the maiden edition of the Lafarge Community Day in Mfamosing, Akamkpa LGA of State. 
According to the Country CEO, Mr. Michael Puchercos, in a statement contained in the speech read by the Plant Manager, Mr. Peter Robson, the Mfamosing Plant Community Day which has been planned to be an annual event, is part of efforts to strengthen the relationship between Lafarge, its host communities and the Cross River State Government whose support has afforded the peaceful environment that aids their business operations. He also took the opportunity to affirm their commitment to the host community that their investment in CSR will continue to meet the needs of the people and stimulate sustainable development in their various communities.
The wife of the State Governor, Dr. Linda Ayade, who was represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, lauded the initiative of the Lafarge Community Day and congratulated the management and staff of Lafarge Africa PLC for their contributions towards the success of the event which is about people, community and programs.
Her Excellency further acknowledged the partnership between her office, the Mediatrix Development Foundation and Lafarge Africa since the inception of the administration. Very recently Lafarge undertook the construction of a sickbay for the Special Needs School at Big Qua Town, Calabar.
She however, extended a hand of partnership to Lafarge Africa PLC in the area of literary competition as being done across the country. She also noted that the partnership with Lafarge will only drive dividends closer to the people.
The event witnessed the unveiling of the newly renovated 3-class room blocks, community notice board, the remodelled palace of the Paramount Ruler of Akamkpa and the launch of starter packs by Her Excellency to 52 youths who are benefits of skills acquisition, capacity enhancement and business development program organized at different levels. One hundred secondary school beneficiaries and twenty five tertiary education beneficiaries from across the 10 host communities were presented with bursary awards.
The event had in attendance an array of dignitories from Government and private organizations, clan heads and community leaders and a host of community dwellers.
