Mr Dodeye Arikpo, Yakurr-born Senatorial aspirant has assured the leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Obubra Local government area that he will ensure that indigenes and residents of the LGA clinch on juicy employment slots if elected as Senator representing Cross River Central NegroidHaven can report.
Arikpo made this known Thursday when the Dodeye Arikpo Consultative Team was in Obubra for an engagement session with the People’s Democratic Party, PDP leadership whereof his ambition to vie for the district’s senate seat as well as the party’s primary elections took center-stage.
Arikpo while appreciating the Obubra PDP chapter for their support so far promised to ensure the area was evenly carried along in his employment scheme upon the success of his quest.
The senatorial hopeful stated that "the reason Central Senatorial District has never had a fair share of federal employment was because her representatives often fail to stand tall in securing their portion of the federal quota system during employment, but, I am determined to stress every nerve to making sure the district was no longer left out of such exercise".
Also, the Director General of the Friends of Dodeye Arikpo, FODA, Hon. Elemi Alaga who stood-in for the Dodeye Arikpo’s campaign Director General, Hon. Ayiba Ayiba, immediate past chairman of Ikom local government said the time for the Obubra people to take multisteps higher was now.
Hon. Alaga who is the immediate past Itigidi council representative and Leader (Speaker) of the Abi Legislative House told the people of Obubra that his principal, Dodeye Arikpo has his mind set on societal development as against “okada and toilet building empowerment” the district’s leaders are known for, informing that Obubra enjoys a fashionable place in Dodeye’s employment agenda which according to him is targeted at developing the entire Obubra locality instead of a selected few, as, has been the case while pointing that Dodeye’s team Secretary, Hon. Precious Onoh, one of the just dissolved councillors of Obubra has never relent in making cases for Obubra, his people.
The chairman of Obubra chapter of PDP, Mr. Denis Egor while speaking for his subjects assured Dodeye Arikpo of the chapter’s resolve to partner him fly the party’s flag at polls.
“We are convinced and ready to partner and follow you. Our heart desire now is that this relationship that we have created today pays you and us too tomorrow; not as followers alone but as friends and partners of a Senator. All we have to say for now is ‘Carry Go!’ because God is on our side. For a long time now, we have been delivering stakeholders’ interests, godfathers’ interests, and moneybags’ interests while neglecting our own. But this time around, we have made up our minds to deliver but our own interest; Dodeye Arikpo is our own choice and nothing is going to stand on our way.
“On a final note, I want to charge you, Senator awaiting inauguration, to do all of these you have done here in other Local Government Areas so that we, together with them would make this movement a success,” Mr. Egor Said.
Spotlight of the event was the dedication of a song to Dodeye Arikpo by the women wing of the party who said have been on rehearsals ever since they were informed of Dodeye Arikpo’s coming.
Ward leaders were not left out of the session as they openly accepted to partner Dodeye Arikpo; this they showed by accepting Dodeye’s promotional materials like caps, et’al to be consistently wearing them till the end of the struggle.
