In respect of preventable violence before, during and after general elections, a sociopolitical group with keen interest in security of lives and property of the electorate particularly during the 2019 general elections in Nigeria has raised concerns for the re-arrest, re-interrogation and re-detainment of one of the senior aides to the Executive Governor of Cross River State NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
Cross River State Coalition for Good Governance has called on security agencies to immediately arrest and investigate the Cross River State Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Gabriel Orji over his alleged involvement in election violence acts that led to the impounding of three (3) of his vehicles by men of the Nigerian Army.
In a phone chat with one of the group's EXCO members (names withheld), Cross NEGROIDHAVEN was informed that the Commissioner for Water Resources, Gabriel Orji is responsible for the sporadic shootings that occasioned the Etome community leading to the cancellation of the entire election process in the area.
"On the 16th of Feb 2019 the commissioner for water resources Ntufam Gab Orji and his thugs were intercepted and carried to 245 Battalion with 3 Cars and guns in them. The Commissioner is now walking freely without proper sanction; why?
"Gab is an indigene of the community. He hired thugs to interrupt the elections. A day before the supposed date for the Presidential and NASS elections, these thugs went all about the community shooting and threatening peaceful-living citizens of Etome; but thanks to God the elections were postponed. But sadly, on the later rescheduled day, February 23rd, Gab and his boys came out in broad daylight wrecking havoc and beating up innocent electorates they perceived are not on their side.
"When the security were alerted, they arrested him and the thugs alongside some arms and seized three (3) of his cars: one white Toyota Hilux with Reg No GGE 429 EA, a Black Lexus Jeep ABJ 572 DG, and a Land Cruiser Jeep AA784 AKP.
"Also invited for interrogation was Mr. Ebam Emanghe, the State Deputy Chairman of PDP, amongst others.
"We are therefore requesting that Mr. Gab be re-arrested, interrogated and detained, otherwise, he will come back again to do even worst," the EXCO member said.
Recall that NEGROIDHAVEN had reported earlier on the 24th of February 2019 that security agencies had ceased Orji during the just conducted presidential and national assembly elections. See link https://www.negroidhaven.org/2019/02/state-commissioner-for-water-resources.html?m=1
