As a stakeholder in the Cross River State project, Comr Eteng Eteng, has disclosed to me recently in respect of the things he intends to address in Yakurr LGA particularly Yakurr State Constituency 1 if given the opportunity to represent the state constituency in the forthcoming 9th Cross River State House of Assembly.
For the intending lawmaker, he's of the opinion that policy formulation through the framework which legislation secures and deliberate implementation which legislative oversight assures constitute a significant dimension to undoing the innumerable woes the PDP through the disappointing legislation Hon Nelson Ofem has entrenched in the said state constituency.
It is against this background of upturning the tide through the governance framework any legislative system promises that Comr Eteng is vying for public office in this regards.
I will in subsequent threads through this account be delineating what the intending lawmaker, in particular, will be doing for the next four years if given the opportunity to represent.
But, before I leave this thread, Comr Eteng's top most governance agenda for Yakurr I State Constituency is —PEACE. You'll agree with me that the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, that is, the 6 local government areas that constitute this district is bed-ridden by belligerent crisis of one shade, tone or tenor.
And you'll agree with him that, 'without peace, there's hardly any meaningful development that any government can secure for the state constituency' (these are Comr Eteng's exact words).
While listening to the comrade, he said, he'll collaborate with the traditional institution as well as religious institution in dealing a deadly blow to belligerent crisis in the state constituency. Secondly, he's intending to improve on the formal security infrastructure in the state constituency, that is, the needed incentives militating against the efficient operations of the Nigerian police like vehicles, police station, etc will be looked into. Thirdly, cultism and such related vices among the youth will be addressed headlong by liasing with relevant organisations to provide job opportunities for them —'if the youths are gainfully employed, they wouldn't have enough time to be distracted by cultism, etc', he said. Fourthly, the YDP intending legislator will ensure a military facility is cited in the constituency or LGA to forestall belligerent crisis of any nature. Finally, the YDP House of Assembly candidate has said all these initiatives mentioned earlier and more will be superintended by a Yakurr Peace Committee, YPC.
In the subsequent threads woven around the legislative ambition of Comr Eteng of YDP, I will divulge other facets of the Legislative Covenant of Comr Eteng Edet Eteng with Yakurr 1 State Constituency.
Can the PDP and/or APC candidates beat this? Let's here from you…
