Zoology graduate emerges UNICAL ‘best graduating student’, hits CGPA of 4.72

Henry Emmanuel, first class graduate of Zoology and University of Calabar overall best graduating student in 32nd Convocation Ceremony

A student of the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology, Friday, emerged the ‘overall best graduating student’ of the University of Calabar, Calabar (UNICAL) in the just concluded 32nd Convocation Ceremony of the prestigious varsity which held weekend NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively. 
He is Henry Emmanuel Jnr of the Faculty of Biological Sciences who attained such feat by hitting a Cummulative Grade Point Average, CGPA of 4.72. 
While reacting to the news of his achievement on social media, Emmanuel who disclosed that his bids to be admitted seven years ago was turned down, an incident which was demoralising, noted that he did not give up. He said he saw failure as teaching him something. For him hard work and resilience are prerequisite for success. 
His words reads in part, ‘In 2012, I had my second attempt at securing admission in the University of Calabar rejected. I was dejected, demoralised, I was considered a failure by many. Yet, I never gave up those dreams. I saw failure as a lesson, hardwork and resilience, a prerequisite for success…. 
‘Some dreams might seem too big and out of reach but I tell you today, that, no matter how big or scary they are, your dreams, every one of them, are valid!’
Accordingly, he is announced the recipient of numerous awards but notably, Tony Elumelu Foundation Award for Best Graduating Student.
