CASE OF PERSISTENT INVASION OF OUR FARMLAND, A DELIBERATE ACT OF PROVOCATION AND TERROR
We the Chiefs, Youths and the entire people of Uyanga Community in Akamkpa Local Government Area, wish to congratulate you for recording a resounding victory for the second term, this is indeed a statement of confidence and satisfaction by Cross River in and residents alike, over your good works for the past three and half (31/2) years in office.
Sir, we are saddened to bring to your notice the continuous act of provocation and criminal tendency exhibiting by the people of Ojor. The people of Ojor Community are in the habit of invading our farmlands, in good numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons thereby causing fear through sporadic shooting of guns in the forest, hence the chance to carryout harvest of our farm produce such as plantain, palm fruits and cassava.
As at the time of this write up, all our people are frustrated and permanently remain at home for the fear of being attacked. The effects of this are HUNGER and fear of being dispossed of your inheritance.
Sir, this EARLY WARNING sign is similar to the one displayed by the Ojor people in 2017 which led to the letter we sent to you on the 14th December, 2017 captioned “REQUEST FOR TIMELY INTERVENTION TO FORESTALL INVASION OF UYANGA TOWN AND TO PREVENT POSSIBLE BREAKDOWN OF LAW AND ORDER”, inspite of this peaceful efforts, the Ojor people invaded Uyanga on the 26th December, 2017; killed four people and beheaded them as well as burned down completely houses located along Uyanga – Ojor Road.
We are confident that this invasion of our farmland is another EARLY WARNING indicator that will lead to another breakdown of law and order with the likelihood of a “Full-blown violence/Conflict” if left unchecked.
It is on this note that we are appealing to you to use your good office and call on the Chief and the entire people of Ojor to order, in order to put to rest this barbaric attitude of Ojor people against Uyanga.
We thank you in anticipation for the action you will take as we congratulate you once again for your forthcoming 2nd Term swearing in.
