The Nigerian Police Command in Cross River State seem to have clamped down on the #RevolutionNow protest in Calabar billed for today 5th August 2019.
Jeremiah Ojanga Archibong and Jonathan Abang Ugbal have been reportedly arrested by the police at the Cultural Centre venue of the protest.
Archibong confirmed to our correspondent this morning that they were at the Cultural Centre venue of the event and that the police were there with them. It was not immediately clear whether the police had arrested them then not until 45 minutes ago when Agba Jalingo the publisher of a news online firm published on his social media account that they have been arrested.
As at press time, the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Irene DSP and the Commissioner of Police Austin Agbonlahor are yet to confirm the incident. The Commissioner is yet to acknowledge text messages sent to him in this regard.
It is suspected that the arrest is not unconnected to the #RevolutionNow protest inspired by politician and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore who is in DSS detention.
