Operation Psychia: C/River State Government launches operation to curb excesses

The Cross River State Government CRSG, Thursday launched an exercise to instill sanity among drivers plying routes within the state NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively. 
The activity tagged Operation Psychia aims at curbing the appalling spate of violation of traffic rules and disregard of traffic signs by private and commercial drivers in Calabar and other part of the state.
As part of the activities to commence the activity the Department of Public Transportation DOPT held a One Day Workshop for Commercial Drivers at the mainbowl of Cultural Centre to sensitise the commercial operators.
While addressing a cross section of the press in the state capital, the Director General of DOPT Godwin Nyiam said concerning Operation Psychia —’we are doing this to ensure complete sanity’.

Continuing the DG said, ‘It will help to reduce the nonchalant attitudes of our drivers… It will help to serve as a deterrence to some of our drivers’.
Nyiam who disclosed that the activity which commences Thursday will last as long as government last added that if a driver is caught ignoring road signs and disobeying traffic rules, s/he would be taken to a psychiatric medical facility to ascertain the mental health of the offender. If s/he is determined to be sound, then the law will take its full course, otherwise, the needful will be done to rid the operator off the road. 
In the workshop, officers from the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Road Safety Corps and the DOPT addressed the drivers in various topical issues.
