Mixed reactions greet the death of Thomas ‘General Iron’ Obi

Nigerians have reacted in a mixed manner to the eventual death of Thomas Obi popularly called General Iron NEGROIDHAVEN has garnered. 

According to reliable sources, the once-dreaded General Iron was killed by a combined team of soldiers and vigilante in Boki LGA, at the hours of 2PM on thursday at his bush hideout.

As there is pandemonium in Boki following the news of his demise making the rounds, what follows is how polarised Nigerians reacted to the development of his demise.

Eunice Bissong has this to say ‘Mighty village major general iron down… there’s surely an end to everything’. Anawu Cletus-Albert Amawu says ‘He operated beyond Boki. And given cover by the same Govt. that used and dumped (killed) him.’ Tessy Kanu said ‘Freedom at last to the Oku people’. Iwara U. Iwara opines ‘He who lives by the sword no dey die for kitchen knife.’ Osonabiji Ojong observed that ‘After reading his apology letter, I can’t celebrate his demise. No wonder someone wrote how HE cannot be trusted.’ Arong Okon said ‘What goes around, comes around. You can’t eat ur (sic) cake and have it.’

However, activist Richard Friday Inoyo is of the opinion ‘Extrajudicial killing. Say no to jungle justice regardless the odds. Arrest, trial and prosecute, these are the laid down steps in accordance to the rule of law.’ Michael Udagu said ‘Well, despite the fact that we have used illegality to cure illegality, may his soul rest in peace’. ‘They went too far, vengeance belongs only to God’ says Alexander Peter.

Obi was the leader of a dreaded gang which singlehandedly threatened the peace of the entire Boki LGA in Cross River Central Senatorial District. He burnt suspected witches and wizards alive, ceased the Borom Oil Palm estate converting it to his private enterprise, pursued some indigenes and residents in Boki away from their ancestral lands/homes, threatened to kill many persons, forced himself into political leadership, and was an appointee of Cross River governor Ben Ayade.
