Nigeria’s Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo trended on twitter today. The trend however was not generated by a specific topic, rather it was characterized by random posts in which the VP was mentioned. Some of the random posts are seen below:

@tholuwah11: “Vice President Yemi Osinbajo SAN pays a condolence visit to Alhaji Dahiru Mangal on the loss of his Mother at his Family home and visits former President Musa Yarโ€™Aduaโ€™s mother at the Yaradua Family house in Katsina. 30th Jan, 2022. Photos; Tolani Alli.”

@SalimAyofe: “@JohnFanimokun Osinbajo can’t rule Flag of Nigeria cos he has been a slave to a honest Fulani President…Tinubu can’t rule cos he pitched camp with a Fulani man to uproot a crooked party from power…But Nigerians must support Atiku, a Fulani man who had relentlessly looted their future in d past. LUNACY.”

@AyRevolutionary: “They would never tackle the issue,na to they find yeye excuse. We are saying Osinbajo is an handsome devil, talk about that.”

@dogaracaesarO1: “I won’t be economical with truth; Yemi Osinbajo is APC’s best ticket to maintain the Presidency beyond 2023.”

@DanielE20713540: “I see osinbajo taking APC ticket.”

@stillzthefirst: “I prefer osinbajo to all this old hags!!!!”

@Great9ija: “2023: Osinbajoโ€™s Support Base Swells Despite Silence”

@55FlyMachine: “In my opinion, if it comes down to Yemi Osinbajo vs Bola Ahmed Tinubu vs Atiku Abubakar as Presidential aspirants, it would be totally unwise not to go with Yemi Osinbajo. I think Yemi Osinbajo can do better than Tinubu and Atiku.”

@OsosaChris: “The Osinbajoโ€™s supporters attacking Tinubu are political babies. Osinbajo will not RUN anything if he doesnโ€™t have the endorsement of Tinubu. Donโ€™t you get it even when its so boldly written?”

@dunnia33: “You may not like VP Osinbajo which is your choice but recruiting others to hate on him is nothing but evil. Tell me any other VP in the history of Nigeria democracy that has made the office of the VP so visible. Donโ€™t forget to also list their achievements. Iโ€™m waiting!”

Mujahid Asari Dokubo, an ex militant leader has said the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is worse than a terrorist organisation. Dokubo said, โ€œPeople are afraid of being killed thatโ€™s why theyโ€™ve continued to sit at home, not because they love Nnmadi Kanu. If there is adequate security by the government, why is there no sit-at-home in Port Harcourt? Calabar? Uyo?” The outburst, as expected, generated series of reactions, with some supporting Dokubo, while others lambasted him and described him as a saboteur.

@FestusGreen: “Asari Dokubo isn’t wrong sha. Many South East residents accede to sit-at-home out of fear of intimidation, harassment, violence, and outright death. It would be almost impossible for an Igbo man to lock down his business because of his love for Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB. Quite simple.”

@Mr_jack_ikem: “If anyone claims it’s out of love, why aren’t Igbo shops in lagos, Abuja or even Asaba locking down as well? Abi na only for SE dem love am?”

@Tam_Oge: “You lie. When an Igbo man decided to do something, he damns every consequence. Maybe, just maybe you’re not Igbo. A cause is greater than a billion dollars to the Igbo man. Did you read about the Igbos who chose drowning to being eternal slaves when they got to America?”

@SienDoubra: “I think Asari Dokubo wanted to be President of Biafra but Nnamdi Kanu told him to wait so he has blown up trying to rebel. I got a news item am trying to verify about Asari Dokubo, there are rumors of his involvement in… I will say it when itโ€™s verified…”

@biafra_mission: “Ngozi Ojukwu wrote. Dear Asari Dokubo.

According to you, you are rich, powerful, have children more than Nnamdi Kanu, yet you can’t use your influence to get good life for your people. You made billions by being a security guard to the pipelines in favor of the North.”

@ObumnemeOnu: “What do you expect from a man who said he is proud to be pipeline security?…”

@AfricaNational1: “Asari Dokubo at war with the secessionist militant terrorist leader in the south east and making it known that south south can never be part of their proposed new nation, which shows that the new nation would be plague with crisis and war if it’s created, Igbo beware.”

Miyetti Allah has stirred up controversy after its National President Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo reportedly said that any southerner hoping to replace President Muhammadu Buhari next year must seek out the Fulani and apologize to them. Bodejo said, โ€œFulani have suffered a lot in the South and in Benue State, where Ortom is the lord. So, any of them that wants our support for 2023 election should tender an apology to the Fulani because of the way they have been treating Fulani in their places.โ€ He wants the South to cast themselves down in penitence and submission for daring to clear their forests of bandit cells. Many have since taken to social media to react to the statement.

Below are some of the diverse views:

@Olasharpmouth: “So when did cattle association start putting their mouth for election matters in this country ???”

@Unclechike1: “After asking โ€œWhere are the cowsโ€ when Pa Fasorantiโ€™s daughter was killed by Fulani herdsmen, they still didnโ€™t support him. Ambition is a very strong emotion. Not properly contained, it can make a wise man become more foolish than a goat.”

@emmyfocus1: “This overzealous group that should have no relevance in a sane society just insinuated that southerners are their enemies. This is actually how some of these northern elites see us, they are voicing the sentiment of many people.”

@Osisiigbo: “If you don’t know that Southerners are enemies of the North then you still do not understand the meaning of conquered people, North have conquered Southerners until we wake up from our stupidity of forced unity Southerners will continue to be there Slaves.”

@Nengbani: “Who miyyeti? Their support is inconsequential. Though Sahara reporters must supply daily food such as this headline to feed her people of ethnic bigotry and agendists.”

@molarasho: “The owners of the country have spoken. One Nigeria in the mud!!!”

@emifrance1: “Farmers want to be relevant okooo, Nigeria Rice Association and Nigeria Snails Association will soon find who they will support on 2023.”

@OlayemiAyindeO4: “There was a report last week that Miyetti Allah pledges support for Tinubu and today, they are saying otherwise. Confused set of people.”

@OkoekoRaymond: “I never heard of this group until this present government.”

@Moralevitaes: “Bush people, that’s what you are. What is Miyetti Allah?”

Rumour on social media has it that former Vice President and aspirant for the office of President in the 2023 general election on the platform of the Peopleโ€™s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar may have picked the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as his running mate in place of Peter Obi. This narrative continued in spite of doubt expressed by some who maintained that the PDP is yet to conduct its presidential primary let alone deciding on who becomes the vice presidential candidate. However, a couple of others believe Wike would add more value in terms of contributing resources to prosecute PDP’s return to power.

@Olawaleonline: “If true, this would be the best strategic move I have seen from any PDP presidential aspirant so far. Kudos to his political strategists.”

@TheresaTekenah: “I feel very sorry for South Eastern PDP supporters. They don’t deserve this unfair treatment from a party they’ve given their full support since its inception.”

@mrhabeeb204: “Wike will pull crowd than Peter Obi, this has nothing to do with ethnicity itโ€™s pure politics.”

@MrRipleyO7: “The primary date hasnโ€™t been set and theyโ€™re telling you the winner and pick for running mate. The southeast love Atiku and will support him regardless. Idea of it must be my brother isnโ€™t the case. A leader that fosters a conducive environment for prosperity is the target.”

@Borey231: “Even if he combines Wike and Obi together and then join Uche Secondus he won’t still win the election.”

@tobiematthew: “This opens SE voting bloc to every candidate. Everyone is aware of Igbo sentiments against Wike and Fulani.”

@Ayemojubar: “Culled: “Sources say Atikuโ€™s decision to dump Obi was because he allegedly made little financial contributions to the 2019 campaign purse as well as inability to win his state Anambra and the South East for the party in the presidential election.”

@folayomi2020: “This guy @atiku is so desperate… Always trying to play to the gallery… No sir, your time is up as Nigerians don’t need old politicians like yourself to steer the affairs of this country in a 21st century.”

@TimilehinEburu_: “Obi won’t allow him to steal as much as he want though but with Wike, na express stealing and looting.”

@RayoKasali: “No matter who Atiku picks, he can’t win any election. Not even online poll.”
