SDP’s NWC sacks Ibor, appoints Ekpenyong Acting Chair of party in Cross River

The national working committee of the Social Democratic Party, SDP has appointed Mr Ambo Ekpenyong as the acting Chair of the party in Cross River NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.

The incident which took place in Abuja on 22nd of March, 2022 at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which held at Chelsea Hotel, Wuse, Abuja took place against the hills of the sacking of the erstwhile chair Chief Eni Ikpi Ibor and 7 other State Chairmen who were suspended for anti-party activities and lack of respect for the national party structure.

According to our source, Chief Ibor lead some Chairmen in 2019 election to endorse the PDP in Cross River and Governor Ben Ayade against their candidate Mr Eyo O. Ekpo, and further tried to sell the party again at the just concluded by-election in the state without regard to the instructions of the national leadership.

Ekpenyong, while making his acceptance speech, promised that the direction of the SDP in the state will change significantly while calling for reconciliation. His words, ‘We need to reconcile where need be and move on where necessary. The directives of the party will change positively with us, standing together in peace, unity and doggedness, projecting the true nature of the White Horse.

‘In days to come, we shall draw out programs, activities and meeting procedures that will lead/direct the process of reconciliation, re-strategizing and actualizing our set out goals as we move forward.

‘I wish to plead with us, to work together in harmony as well as make sure we progress in harmony and love as we disagree/agree progressively.’
