The Cross River Movement has just concluded her one month Love Cross River campaign.
This event which took place in Calabar, the capital city of Cross River State and across all social media platforms, from 1st through 26th February 2022, featured programmes such as the TCRM campaign launch, skill acquisition, environmental sanitation, visit to the Infant Jesus Orphanage Home, visit to the street kids and ended with a friendly football match between San Siro versus Emotional Intelligence Advocacy and Development Initiative respectively.
In an interview with the executive assistant to the founder, TCRM, Mrs. Edidiong Umoh Ebigwai said that the event was geared at “encouraging Cross Riverians to show love to the state by doing something that would benefit other people and have an overall impact on the society”.
She added that “the driving force for the project was the loss of patriotism for the state which the initiative wanted to reignite especially in a month dedicated to love”.
Mrs. Edidiong also acknowledged that the success of the event was co-facilitated alongside partners from Offiong Ikpeme Foundation, Transformation Home Africa, Atycare Initiative, Uniters Hub Foundation, EIADI and the Nigerian Union of Campus Journalist (Crutechpress).
In her words “they made the work easy, increased the impact and we’re able to assist in achieving the essence of the project”.
During the visit to street kids which took place at Lemna junction, Peace Jackson who spoke on behalf of Uniters Hub Foundation stated that the foundation is dedicated to refurbishing the lives of these kids.
According to her “we have sent some to school, helped to take some back to their parents, trained others on skills and established businesses for them. This has been ongoing for about 5 years now”.
One of the kids identified as Kingsley Okon appreciated the initiative for the kind gesture, adding that toiletries and clothings poised as major challenge for them always.
On health and mental wellness, the founder of EIADI, TM Tony Ebigwai said that “sports is important to unite people and so this is why we partnered with TCRM in this capacity so as to cement unity and its value in the state”.
Highpoint of the event were individual pledges of scholarship, donations of sewing machines, fifty trees for tree planting project, public address system to the various initiatives as well as donation of food items, toiletries, clothings to the orphanage and street kids.
