Over 400 staff working in a private company at EPZ in Calabar may lose their job as the company can no longer operate without public power supply.

Some of the staff who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said they were paid half salary in the month of April because the company wasn’t operational due to the failure of electricity supply.

For this month, the workers have been redundant because the company isn’t operational and they are not expecting any pay.

“As we speak, this Chinese company is about to fold up because they depend largely on public power supply. Over 400 Nigerians are about to lose their jobs in this company due to power outage.

“Our company has even pleaded with PHEDC to see how they can help them to provide a crane, but it seems things are turning out differently by the day.

“We are pleading with PHEDC, Cross River Government and the Federal Ministry of Power to come to our aid because we are about to lose our jobs if this company folds up”.
