The Member representing Boki II State Constituency in Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hilary Ekpang Bisong has given a cash donation as Palliative to UNICAL Lecturers of Boki II State Constituency to help cushion the effect of the four months none payment of salary to ASUU members in Nigeria, occasioned by the ASUU strike.

Recall that ASUU National have been on strike since February 2022 over revitalisation of Universities and other welfare issues. The FGN immediately invoked the “no-work, no-pay” policy which left the Lecturers without salaries since February 2022 till date.

As a rising star and fine politician of Constituency II origin, Rt. Hon. Hillary Ekpang Bisong feel the pains of Lecturers who are also parents with children in schools; and are saddled with the responsibility of providing shelter, food, clothes, medications and other needs of the children and other family members.

He regretted the ugly situation and pray that God will touch the hearts of those who are involved in the on-going negotiation between ASUU and FGN, to do what is right to solve the protracted issues once and for all.

According to Dr Paultu Tawo Bukie-Achu, he wrote that the palliative was timely and apt.
