Calabar Hosts Peace Walk to Mark International Day of Peace 2023

CalabarTo commemorate the 2023 International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day, Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P) organized a peace walk in Calabar. This event, which brought together various civil society organizations, took place in the state capital metropolis on Wednesday, a day ahead of the United Nations-designated date for celebrating peace NEGROIDHAVEN can say.

The peace walk commenced at the well-known Rabanna Roundabout, located at the intersection of Ndidem Usang Iso/IBB Way Roundabout, and followed a route along IBB Way to the U. J. Esuene Sports Stadium. From there, participants proceeded to the Eleven Eleven Roundabout/Millennium Park and concluded the walk at Mary Slessor Avenue.

The primary goal of the peace walk was to raise awareness and promote the importance of peaceful coexistence among individuals and communities. This year’s theme, ‘Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #Global Goals,’ underscores the significance of nonviolence and the absence of war.

Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P) has planned additional activities for the International Day of Peace celebration, including the Cross River Peace Conference and Stakeholders Forum scheduled for Thursday by 10AM at Transcorp Hotels where the Deputy Governor of the state, President of the 10th Senate and other dignitaries.

It is worth noting that P4P’s efforts in organizing this peace walk have been described as one of the largest peace events ever held in Cross River State.
