An article published on the 3rd of November 2024 by “The Pledge”, with the title: “Minister John Owan Enoh, Orders Beating of Constituent, Declares Immunity Due to His Position”, is the most laughable concoction of lies published and circulated in recent times.
Why anyone who would take the time to publish lies so it possibly rubs off poorly on Senator Enoh is not only shameful but mischievous.
Senator John Owan Enoh, a grassroot politician, was in Cross River, his home State, to vote during the just concluded LGA elections of the 2nd of November. The Honourable Minister took time off to see to other matters at home.
Given his hands-on leadership style, particularly within his immediate community, he went to see the installed solar farm that has powered his Agbokim Waterfalls community.
On his way, a blue tinted Hyundai vehicle with no plate number attempted several times to intercept his moving convoy despite being signaled to stop. These attempts had to be resisted as it was clearly a security breach on election day.
In view of the fact that the said vehicle was tinted and the driver couldn’t be identified easily, the car had to be stopped for due security diligence and identification of the driver. The driver was identified as Abang Attah, a young man who has enjoyed tremendous goodwill from Senator John Owan Enoh over the years. The motivation behind his provocative action was clearly disregard and disrespect. A formal complaint was thereafter laid to the community.
The mischievous article further painted the victimization of one Nsan Obi, a constituent, who claims he was physically assaulted by police officers attached to Senator Owan Enoh. This is in spite of the fact that the said Nsan Obi was the aggressor.
While Senator Owan Enoh’s convoy made its way from the village, headed to Ikom and as soon as he was exiting Ajassor mission, security details in the pilot car heard a cry for help by the roadside, they stopped the convoy and rushed to the scene to salvage the situation. They found Nsan Obi and his cohorts assaulting a fellow constituent. His cohorts escaped but he wasn’t that lucky. Senator Owan Enoh remained in the car and was not aware of what was going on until afterwards.
The rabble-rouser who made that publication must be informed that Nsan Obi only became a member of the APC a few months back, and was in opposition during the 2023 elections, thus, he was not an ardent follower of Gov Otu during the 2023 election as claimed in the publication.
Sequel to this weak vile campaign attempt by narrow-minded individuals to cast blatant aspersions on Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of State (Industry), let it be known, that the distinguished Senator John Owan Enoh gave the APC and His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu his total support and cooperation through the entire selection of candidates for the just concluded Council elections. He sponsored no candidates and preferred to work with those who emerged.
Furthermore, Senator John Owan Enoh without anyone’s prompting used the opportunity of his Thanksgiving, January 2024, to openly announce he was not available for the 2027 governorship race and stated his support for HE Gov Bassey Edet Otu. The tacky publication goes ahead to want the public to believe otherwise.
Let there be a cease and desist by charlatans. Do not peddle a false narrative, and allow the political scene in Cross River state to thrive peacefully.
