The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has granted the first ever private University in Cross River state accreditation to run degree programmes in the country NEGROIDHAVEN has garnered. 
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Arthur Jarvis University, AJU, the first private University in Cross River State, a 100 percent accreditation to run degree programmes. 
This development took place on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at the University’s campus in Akpabuyo, few kilometres from Calabar, Cross River State, when a team from the commission visited the institution. 
Being the most affordable private university in Nigeria and West Africa, AJU has grown to be one of the best institutions in the region.

The NUC is a public commission which aims at promoting quality higher education in Nigeria. The commission was established in 1962 as an advisory agency in the Cabinet Office. It functions are as follows:

*Granting approval for all academic programmes run in Nigerian universities;
*Granting approval for the establishment of all higher educational institutions offering degree programmes in Nigerian universities;
*Ensure quality assurance of all academic programmes offered in Nigerian universities; and
*Channel for all external support to the Nigerian universities.
