The Chairman of the Harmonised Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River, Sen. Matthew Mbu Jnr, including Minister of State for Power Goddy Agba and Prof. Eyo Etim Nyong a former guber aspirant of the APC in Cross River have made passionate addresses to members of the political party in the state NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

Mbu Jnr who articulated his appeal on Friday shortly after the inauguration of the Caretaker Committee at the African Club venue in Calabar the state capital metropolis by Goddy Agba the Minister of State for Power, stated that fairness, forgiveness, unity, love, sincerity, etc are sacrosanct in this new beginning of the party in the state.

While further tasking members to eschew sentimental politics, Mbu Jnr added that there is nothing that cannot be achieved with these values in place. His words, ‘once we are sincere to ourselves and we walk together as a family, the sky is our limit. There’s nothing we cannot achieve with the calibre of people that we have on ground. All that we need do …let us leave politics of sentiments, let us be fair to one and another and walk as a family.

‘What’s been lacking in Cross River state is love and oneness. Let us have that love and oneness…. It’s a new beginning, it’s a new dawn. Let things of the past be things of the past. We cannot go back to those things again. We are a family. And if we truly walk as a family, there is nothing that we cannot achieve. We must walk as a family. Let us bring love into what we are doing. Let us respect one and another.’

On his part, Prof. Eyo Etim Nyong, a 2019 gubernatorial aspirant of the APC in Cross River observed that personal interest should be shelved for the overall objective of the party. According to him, ‘Personal interest should be buried for now. And work for a strong foundation for the party. Their interest cannot fly if the foundation is week. And we can only build a strong foundation if we put all our hands together. When we have a strong foundation, interest will pop out from different corners and thrive. We need to come back together and build a strong, formidable party that can take over power at all levels’.

Minister Agba who was elated at the development said, the APC in Cross River has to be united to win elections come 2023: ‘let’s work together to achieve the collective objective of the party which is to win elections. Without winning elections there will be no point for political party’.

Until now, the APC in Cross River state has been profoundly bedevilled by factionalisation along three camps: Usani Usani, John Owan-Enoh and Neutral. This move, it is expected, will weld the party in the state together for good.
