More than 1,000 young people aged 8 to 16 on Friday concluded a one-month intensive STEM summer bootcamp organised under the Bishop Eyoanwan Otu STEM Project in Calabar.
The August Summer Bootcamp, held from August 3 to Sept 11, 2026, at the Cross River State ICT Hub inside the State Library complex, was facilitated by Guru Innovation Hub and partners. Sessions ran daily from 9am and focused on practical Basic Computer skills, Coding, and Gaming training. Career talks, Exposure and education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics for boys and girls drawn from across the state.
Organisers said expert facilitators delivered the physical training programme. The closing ceremony marked the end of the latest cohort. Cumulative figures released by the organisers show that more than 6,000 young males and females have now been trained under the initiative across Cross River’s three senatorial districts.
The project is driven by Her Excellency Bishop (Mrs) Eyoanwan Otu, wife of the Cross River State governor. It aims to equip Cross River youths with foundational STEM skills through structured bootcamps.
Partners supporting the programme include Guru Innovation Hub, Guru Kids, Quadj Technologies Ltd.
