NEWS: Federal Government Open To Negotiation With Boko Haram

As part of the strategy of tackling the insurgency of Boko Haram, President Muhammadu Buhari who has earlier moved the military headquarters to Maiduguri, Borno state, has set dealing with the attacks of the group as his top priority. Now, President Buhari has taken a step forward been open to negotiation if the group are willing.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Friday, in an interview with theBBC.

In President Buhari first two weeks , he visited Chad and Niger, and following week the President of those countries visited him in Abuja as well. Benin Republic President and the Defence Minister of Cameroon all visited him as part of plans to tackle to issue of the Boko Haram sect which has been a menace to our beloved country. The target time for the deployment of the multinational force is July ending; that is in a couple of weeks.”

When asked by BBC if the Federal Government will consider negotiating with the group, he replied; "If they are willing to negotiation, why not for every reasonable person would want an end this insurgency," regardless of attempts made in the past that didn't work.
