The aftermath of the rampage in kwara state polytechnic,Ilorin has led to the death of 16 students who unfortunately met their end last weekend.
According to information from our source, there was a duel between two cult fraternities, viz: Aiye and Eiye respectively.
Our source had it that the fracas started over the weekend when suspected members of these confraternities engaged themselves in a blood letting duel.
Further information has it that one of the victims was murdered in cold blood during the screening of the Polytechnic’s Student Union Government elections.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that ,so far, the incident has led to what we would describe as a blood bath as several lives have been lost with particular mention: That of two victims who were murdered at Asa Dam Road and beside a bridge close to a filling station at Oja Tuntun area of Ilorin respwctively.
Another lifeless body was found at Victory Hotel, Agbooba on sunday, while yet another was dumped at Irewolede few days ago.
With this kind of thing happening, one wonders what our tertiary institutions is fast becoming! We cannot but question the rationality behind such irrational acts of mayhem as carried out by the perpetrators.
Further still, we cannot but wonder why our youths are fast turning out into hoodlums and daredevils rather than as individuals who have been tried, tested and trusted with proven  worthiness in character and learning as is indicated by the certificates and merit  awards supposedly received on the convocation ceremony grounds of  our Tertiary Institutions.
