The Governor of Lagos State has instructed the Law Enforcement Agencies and Taskforce to impound trailers and long vehicles around the metropolis during the day. According to The Guardian news, The directives, government said, it was in line with section 2(1) and 2(11) of the Lagos Road Traffic Law 2012, which restrict trailers and long vehicles from plying the metropolis during the day. The order was necessitated by the fatal accident involving a container laden trailer at Ojuelegba last Wednesday. The permanent secretary, Ministry of Transportation Oluseyi Whenu said that the Government would henceforth go tough on any trailer and long vehicle that contravenes the Law as such vehicle would be impound and made to pay the stipulated fine accordingly. |
