In the bid to increase publicity on health issues in the state especially the upcoming State Immunisation Exercise, the Special Adviser, Dr. Betta Edu on Friday 22 January 2016, led directors in the Department of Community & Primary Health Care with partners from W.H.O and UNICEF to CRBC for an advocacy visit to the new General Manager, Dr.(Mrs.) Theresa Essien and her management team in a bid to improve media coverage of health issues both in rural and urban areas in CRS.

According to her Personal Assistant on Media & Publicity, Charles Ekanem, the SA 'formally seeked for partnership with CRBC as it concerns the forthcoming state-wide measles Immunization Campaign starting from 28th January to 1st February, 2016'.

He further observed that 'The S.A appealed for state-wide publicity through jingles, news, commentaries, scroll bars and airing of programmes pertaining to the exercise, especially for viewers and listeners in the central and northern Cross River via CRBC Ikom, so they can also be carried along'.

We also garnered that also on the wish list of the department to CRBC was full coverage of the situation analysis and needs assessment of 1,013 primary health centres across the state as part of His Excellency, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade strategy to ensure the health facilities are up to standard for quality healthcare delivery.

She presented measles campaign publicity materials to the GM, Dr. Mrs. Theresa Essien.

On her part, UNICEF represenative, Mrs. Sherifat Lawal congratulated the new GM and noted that the last immunization exercise in 2013 was not a good one as Cross River State came last. She said that is the reason they are calling on CRBC to contribute their quota to the success of the exercise this year.

The General Manager, Dr Mrs. Theresa Essien, responded by thanking the S.A and her team of Partners from WHO and UNICEF for identifying CRBC as an anchor to partner with to ensure quality dissemination of health information to all Cross Riverians, especially information on the forthcoming state measles immunization exercise. She assured the S.A that CRBC Radio and Television will publicize the immunization program in the state as she immediately tasked the Director on News to run some carry news and jingles in various languages about the exercise.
