The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey, has expressed great shock over the death of one of Cross River's finest journalist and Social Commentator, Dr. Okpo Ojah.

Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey has described Dr. Okpo Ojah as a man of unequivocal character and courage  who believed in the Cross River Project through his timely and articulate articles and commentaries that addressed the socio-political and economic problems of the State.

"We have lost a scholar and a patriot who stood to be counted when it mattered".

Rt. Hon.Bassey said the State was going to miss his contributions to the State especially as it affects the well being of the people of Cross River State.

"We shall miss his robust and honest  contributions to humanity, he was a man of substance who worked for the greater good of our people".

He said his death was a colossal loss to the entire State and an exit of an uncommon role model.

Rt. Hon Bassey prayed God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
