DG of Primary Health Care Pays NTA Advocacy Visit, Solicit Support for her Programmes

DG CRSPHCDA  PAYS ADVOCACY VISIT TO GENERAL MANAGER NTA CHANNEL 9, CALABAR.

The Director General of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. (Mrs.) Betta Edu earlier this week led members of the Agency and partners from World Health Organization and UNICEF to Nigerian Television Authority, Channel 9, Calabar.

In her remarks she called for a strong collaboration between NTA and the Agency to create a better synergy and information dissemination system on health. She said part of the visit is in conjunction with the maternal newborn and childs health week coming up in April.

Dr. Edu said the state Governor, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade is committed to total eradication of polio and reduction of maternal mortality in the state. She also intimated the GM about cross-border immunization for proper coverage to ensure no child is left unimmunized.

She appeal for partnership with NTA as it will help in dissemination of health information in Cross River State.

Also speaking, the Head of W.H.O Cross River State, Dr. Tom Igbu urged NTA to play a vital role in creating a platform for health issues in Cross River State through their programs.

In her response, the General Manager NTA 9, Mrs Patricia Jibunoh thanked the agency for  coming as she assured the DG that NTA will partner with the agency to promote health. She advocated for programs on health issues from the agency to be forwarded to them.

The GM praised the agency for containing Polio and Diarrhoea outbreak in CRS. According to her, with these giant strides by the DG the state will be free from vaccines preventable diseases. She eulogized the performance of the State Governor, Sen (Prof) Ben Ayade, hailing his efforts in providing basic health care services to the people.

Finally, she call on the agency to help solve some of the challenges they faced in the process of transmission, decrying poor minimal equipment in the station  and lack of electric power supply as their major setbacks.

On the state health team was Dr Gatei W. Ngawda from National Emergency Centre and Centre for disease Control, USA.
